Mayor Bill de Blasio, Civic Hall Labs, and New York City Economic Development Corporation announced three Grand Prize winners and one Judge’s Choice Award winner of the NYC BigApps 2017 competition. “NYC BigApps is about New Yorkers helping New Yorkers. Every year, we ask our tech and creative talent to help solve pressing challenges. They step up and consistently exceed our expectations with innovative ideas for New York,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said.
We are delighted to announce the Finalists for this year’s NYC BigApps competition! Since the launch of the competition in January 2017, over 500 people have participated in exploring how data and technology can improve the quality of life for New York City youth, seniors, and immigrants across three challenge categories: Transportation, Knowledge, and Community Resiliency.
Join us as we celebrate another exciting year of the NYC BigApps competition at the Finalist Expo & Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 23rd! At this culminating event, the finalists will showcase their solutions at the Finalist Expo. The Judges will then announce the Grand Prize Winners during the Awards Ceremony, followed by the opportunity to mingle with BigApps partners, mentors, and the broader #NYCBigApps community.

New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) President, Maria Torres-Springer and Andrew Rasiej, Co-Founder and President of Civic Hall Labs (CHL) and Chair of The New York Tech Alliance, announced the upcoming NYC BigApps 2017 competition and the new partnership between NYCEDC and Civic Hall Labs at the New York Tech Meetup. BigApps is the premier civic innovation initiative for New York City that aids the development of products and services capable of addressing critical civic and urban issues in the City and improving the quality of life of New Yorkers.
