BigAppsNYC is a great venue for solving many of NYC challenges. I hope it doesn't move into a startup challenge. Several of the questions from judges on Demo Day treats it like a Startup Weekend event, 'What is your business model?'. As a serial entrepreneur, I'm all for startups, but there is more to solving city problems and a broader set of people who want and should participate in the solutions. If judges treat it as an entrepreneurship challenge instead of a civic tech or open data challenge, I fear that it can lose the broader audience of participation.
